About us

The Clinical Psychology Unit at the Department of Neuroscience, Psychology and Behaviour at the University of Leicester was established in 1990 and has a long history of developing and implementing psychoeducational interventions to support mental health and suicide prevention. The unit focuses on all areas of health and psychological wellbeing in adults, children and vulnerable groups. As a group of applied psychologists, we specialise in research, training and consultancy with individuals and in occupational settings, particularly the public sector.

Our Experience

As a team, we hold a wealth of experience and qualification in Clinical and Health Psychology, Occupational Psychology and also with former Chief Superintendent expertise. The result of this collaboration allows a strongly research informed approach with direct experience and understanding of the target group we aim to help.

Dr Ceri Jones


RESLEAPS Director

Dr Ceri Jones is a National Institute for Healthcare Research Knowledge Mobilisation Fellow and Patient Safety Specialist at University Hospitals Leicester and Senior Research Fellow and Healthcare lead for Y Lab a Public Sector Innovation Lab at Cardiff University. 

She is a qualified occupational psychologist and has over 15 yrs. experience as a practitioner and academic, researching safety and quality improvements in public and private sector organisations. 

Prof. Noelle Robertson


RESLEAPS Associate Director

Prof. Noelle Robertson is Programme Director for the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and also oversees the research components of the Programme as joint Research Director. Noelle is an HCPC registered clinical and health psychologist and holds an honorary consultant post with University Hospitals of Leicester. Noelle is a former Chair of the Faculty of Clinical Health Psychology of the British Psychological Society a Fellow of the BPS and Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Stuart Noble

Expert Advisor

Stuart Noble, MBA, is a retired Chief Superintendent having served 30 years with Lancashire Constabulary. Possessing ten years of senior leadership experience with a wide portfolio of command and leading a large workforce. As chair of the Lancashire Superintendents Association, he was instrumental in the development and introduction of the first peer support programme for senior leaders. A highly credible leader he was awarded a national senior leadership award in 2019, in part for his commitment to supporting his peers. 

Max Jennings

Project Manager/ Research Associate

Researcher and Project Manager for the RESLEAPS programme, Max Jennings studied Psychology at BSc and MSc level, before moving to work at University of Leicester. He held previous clinical roles as Assistant Psychologist in psychiatric hospitals, and is part of a ‘first responder family’.
